asked the Minister of Housing and Local Government and Minister for Welsh Affairs if he will make a statement on his proposals to help hardship cases arising from revaluation.

As I informed the House on 16th July in reply to a Question by my hon. Friend the Member for Brentford and Chiswick (Mr. Dudley Smith) the Government are considering whether any interim steps to relieve hardship should be taken in advance of the Report of the Allen Committee. I do not expect to be ready to make a statement before the autumn.
