HC Deb 16 July 1963 vol 681 c36W
77. Mr. Hector Hughes

asked the Parliamentary Secretary for Science what steps he is taking, where, and in what manner, to study the particular needs and potentialities of Scottish trade, industry and commerce, with a view to informing them of the latest scientific discoveries and devices in a practical way to develop and expand Scottish trade and employment.

Mr. Denzil Freeth

The Department of Scientific and Industrial Research and the Scottish Education Department have established a new scheme of industrial liaison for this purpose. Six industrial liaison officers have been appointed, two in the Royal College of Science and Technology and one each at the Central Technical Institutions in Aberdeen, Dundee, Edinburgh and Paisley. Advice on where to obtain scientific and technical information is also given to Scottish industry by D.S.I.R.'s Scottish Branch Office in Edinburgh and can be obtained by membership of the Scottish Mutual Assistance which I mentioned in the debate yesterday.
