HC Deb 10 April 1963 vol 675 cc181-2W
Mr. Biggs-Davison

asked the Lord Privy Seal what initiative Her Majesty's Government have taken or supported at the United Nations for international inquiry into, and representations against, religious persecution throughout the world; and whether he will make a statement.

Mr. Heath

The General Assembly of the United Nations has for some years been concerned with the question of freedom and non-discrimination in the matter of religious rights and practices. It has also recently called for the preparation of a draft declaration and convention on the elimination of all forms of religious intolerance with a view to adopting such instruments in the future. In discussions on these subjects the United Kingdom representatives have played their full part and have voted for the various resolutions adopted by the Assembly and its subsidiary organs.
