HC Deb 25 October 1962 vol 664 cc217-8W
Mr. Gresham Cooke

asked the Minister of Transport what is the average number of vehicles passing per hour or per 24 hours at any point between 20 and 40 miles from the centre of London on the A.30 and A.1, respectively.

Mr. Marples

In August, 1961, at points 30 miles from London, approximately 1,200 vehicles an hour on each road.

The figures are averages based on observations of traffic from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. for a 7-day period. They include the large volume of seasonal holiday traffic on A.30.
