HC Deb 27 November 1962 vol 668 cc26-7W
63. Lady Tweedsmuir

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether he will make a statement on the recent discussions between officials of his Department and the Commission of the European Economic Community concerning Articles 92–94 of the Treaty of Rome, dealing with aid granted by States in the location of industry.

Mr. Green

Discussions on this subject took place earlier this year between members of the United Kingdom negotiating Delegation and the Commission of the European Economic Community. The Government understand that great importance is attached to the development of the more backward regions of the Community and see no reason to suppose that the measures taken under our distribution of industry policy would be regarded as incompatible with Articles 92–94 of the Treaty of Rome.
