HC Deb 27 November 1962 vol 668 c27W
64. Mr. Snow

asked the President of the Board of Trade what were the reasons for the postponement of the official goodwill visit to this country of the Chinese Vice-Minister of Foreign Trade.

Mr. Green

My right hon. Friend issued an invitation last April to Mr. Lu Hsu-chang, a Vice-Minister of Trade of the People's Republic of China to come to this country for an official goodwill visit. This invitation was accepted in July and Mr. Lu was due to arrive in London on 29th November for a stay of three weeks. However, in view of the possibility that the success of this visit might he prejudiced in the present disturbed situation, my right hon. Friend has suggested to Mr. Lu that it be postponed for the time being.
