§ Mr. MarplesA scheme for the improvement of this road was included in the five-year trunk roads programme which I announced last February. Dual carriageways will be provided for a distance of 1¾ miles westwards from Salters Brook. It is not an easy road to improve, but survey work is almost completed and the scheme will be pushed ahead as quickly as possible. Plans are already in hand for the provision of safety fencing along some stretches of the road. This work should be started later this month.
