§ 39. Commander Purseyasked the Civil Lord of the Admiralty what steps the Admiralty are taking to increase the utilisation of naval establishments and buildings; and what establishments acquired for war expansion and not now essential are being considered for disposal.

Ian Orr-EwingThe Admiralty maintain a constant review of naval (and civil) establishments ashore, including buildings, with the object of closing and concentrating these wherever possible: 20 establishments acquired for war expansion have already been closed. A list of a further 24 such establishments being disposed of is given below. In addition, we have closed a number of dockyards and other establishments which were not acquired for war expansion.
