§ 35. Mr. Cooper
asked the Minister of Education if he will give consideration to the possibility and desirability of transferring the payment of teachers' salaries from local authorities to his Department.

No. This would involve a substantial shift in the balance of power from local to central Government.

§ Mr. Hale
asked the Minister of Education from what date the full award of the Burnham Committee in favour of teachers' salaries will come into effect.

§ Sir D. Eccles
The approved salary scales came into effect on 1st January, 1962.
