§ 34. Mr. G. Thomasasked the Minister of Housing and Local Government and Minister for Welsh Affairs whether he will circularise local authorities requesting them to give owner-occupiers of condemned property a schedule of the reasons for the issue of a clearance order.
§ Mr. CorfieldMy right hon. Friend does not think this is necessary. The reason for making a clearance order is that the houses in the area are unfit and should be demolished. If an owner disputes unfitness, the local authority serve on him a notice of their principal grounds for considering the house unfit and he has an opportunity of making objection before one of the Minister's Inspectors before a decision is reached on the order.
