asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many recommendations for deportation he confirmed in 1961; what were the offences involved; and what were the countries of origin of those deported.

Fifty-nine aliens were deported in 1961 following the166W recommendation of a court. Thirty-one of these had been convicted of offences against property; nineteen of passport offences and offences under the Aliens Order; and six of sexual offences. Forty-four of those deported were of European origin. The remainder came from other parts of the world, including twelve from the Middle East. I am sending my hon. Friend the details.
