HC Deb 04 July 1962 vol 662 cc66-7W
Mr. Hale

asked the Secretary of State for Air why the mother of the Oldham Royal Air Force sergeant, whose name has been supplied to him, was not informed of the death of her son in Cyprus until after his funeral; and when she was first supplied with full information as to the cause of death.

Mr. Amery

We keep a record of addresses of next of kin and of any other person an officer or airman has nominated to be informed in the event of his becoming a casualty. The sergeant in this case had not nominated anyone other than his wife and accordingly only she was informed of his death. The latter part of the Question does not therefore arise.
