§ Mr. Gourlayasked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will state, for each education authority, the percentage of each promotion group transferred to senior secondary courses of education at each transfer date for the years 1957, 1959 and 1961, and the number of pupils transferred from junior secondary to senior secondary courses by each authority in the corresponding years.
§ Mr. MaclayThe information about transfer from primary to secondary education is not readily available in the precise form asked for by the hon. Member. The following table, however, shows the percentage of all pupils in the first year of secondary schools under education authorities who were in the first year of senior secondary courses at 15th January in the years 1957, 1959 and 1961. The table also shows, by education authority areas, the number of pupils who were transferred from 149W junior secondary schools to senior secondary schools in sessions 1956–57
