§ Mr. Denzil FreethResearch on the structure, function and metabolism of normal and diseased muscle, which will assist in elucidating the cause of, and the most effective methods of treating, muscular dystrophy, is being supported from public funds by the Medical Research Council, and by university and hospital departments. This work forms part of a wide research programme, and I regret that it is not possible to estimate the expenditure on research into muscular dystrophy alone.
