HC Deb 26 February 1962 vol 654 cc98-9W
57. Mr. Gourlay

asked the Minister of Pensions and National Insurance how many claims for refund of National Health Service prescription charges were made, through the agency of the Post Office in Scotland, for the periods April, 1960, to January, 1961, and April 1961, to January, 1962; and what were the total amounts repaid in each period.

Mrs. Thatcher

Information about payments made at Post Offices as refunds of charges for prescriptions is so far available only for a period up to the end of November, 1961. For the period April to November the figures were: in 1960, £48,000 representing about 960,000 prescription items, and, in 1961, £125,000 representing about 1,250,000 prescription items.
