§ Mr. Awberyasked the Minister of Education if he is aware of the heavy burden which the cost of education places upon local authorities; and if he will take steps to make this a national rather than a local charge.
§ Sir D. EcclesI do not favour the central control of education implied by the hon. Member's proposals, and I believe local authorities value their responsibilities in this field and recognise that it is right they should bear their share of the cost.
