§ Mr. Willeyasked the Minister of Education which recommendations of the Crowther Report he has implemented; 177W and what steps he is taking regarding each of the other recommendations which he has not yet implemented.
§ Sir D. EcclesThis Report has had a profound influence on educational thinking both within my Department and in schools, colleges, and local authority offices throughout the country. The Government's attitude to the raising of the school leaving age and the introduction of county colleges was made clear in the debate on the Report in March, 1960. The Report has already borne fruit in new policies for teacher supply, secondary school examinations, school leaving dates, and the development of the youth service and further education. At the same time, the Council's views have led to a widespread and continuing re-assessment by the schools and colleges of further education of their curricula and methods.
