HC Deb 20 December 1962 vol 669 cc235-6W
Mr. Mason

asked the Civil Lord of the Admiralty how many civil servants in his Department over the past 10 years, giving the ranks, went within two years of retirement or resignation to other jobs and sought permission within the ruling of paragraph 5 of Command Paper No, 5517, specifying which subsection of that paragraph was involved and the firm involved in each case.

Mr. C. Ian Orr-Ewing

So far as I have been able to ascertain, 10 of the 12 cases referred to in my reply on 30th November, 1962, fall under subsection (a) of paragraph 5 of Command Paper 5517: that is the firms had some contractual relations with the Government. The firms were:

  • Denny Brothers Limited.
  • Fairfield Shipbuilding and Engineering Company.
  • Gibson and Company (Shipbrokers).
  • R. & H. Green and Silley Weir Limited.
  • Hall-Thermotank Limited.
  • Rye-Arc Limited.
  • Sankey and Company.
  • J. Thorneycroft and Company.
  • J. S. White and Company.
  • Yarrows (Shipbuilders) Limited.

The other cases do not appear to have fallen under any of the subsections of paragraph 5 of the Command Paper.
