HC Deb 20 December 1962 vol 669 c236W
Brigadier Clarke

asked the Civil Lord of the Admiralty when he proposes to implement the award of the Industrial Court to storehouse assistants; and if it will be back-dated to the date of award.

Mr. C. Ian Orr-Ewing

The Industrial Court, on 15th September, 1961, recommended an award of £1 a week, to be effective as from 14th February, 1961. This was during the period of the wage pause, when questions of effective date were temporarily withdrawn from the scope of arbitration. However, in accordance with an earlier offer, the Admiralty put into force an increase of 8s. with effect from 1st October, 1960, and the balance of 12s. a week was paid immediately on the end of the wage pause period, i.e. 1st April. 1902
