HC Deb 20 December 1962 vol 669 cc213-4W
49. Mr. Dalyell

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether he will provide a temporary stimulus by immediately removing the 50 per cent. Purchase Tax on radio and television equipment, in view of the uncertain expectations throughout the industry, especially among component manufacturers in areas of unemployment such as West Lothian, until new programmes become available in April 1964.

Mr. du Cann

My right hon. Friend will bear this suggestion in mind; but I cannot anticipate his tax decisions.
