HC Deb 20 December 1962 vol 669 c207W
18. Mr. Spriggs

asked the President of the Board of Trade what progress has been made in the negotiations designed to develop trade with the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics and other Eastern European countries; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Erroll

Negotiations for a new three-year trade arrangement and quotas for 1963 have recently been completed with Czechoslovakia. The new quotas provide for an increase in trade of about £2 million in each direction. An agreement with Rumania establishing quotas for 12 months from 1st October, 1962, has been signed today which provides for an increase in quotas of about £800,000 in each direction. Talks with the U.S.S.R. and Hungary are in progress. Negotiations with Bulgaria and Poland are not due until next spring and summer respectively.
