Mr. Rankin

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what steps he is taking to secure the efficient utilisation of the specialised knowledge of dieticians in Scottish hospitals.

In January this year I commended to the attention of regional hospital boards and boards of management in Scotland the Report of the Scottish Health Services Council on hospital catering. This Report dealt in detail with therapeutic diets and the importance of dieticians in hospitals.
