Mr. Denis Howellasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will give details of the arrangements that have been made for servicing the National Economic Development Council; what information is being supplied to its members for their next meeting; how often it is intended that this committee shall meet; and when he expects its first 104W advice to be available to Her Majesty's Government.
§ Sir E. BoyleA small staff is being built up under the Director-General. The services of Government Departments are also being made available. It is not intended to publish details of the information given to the Council.
The Council will meet next on 9th May and again in June and July; it is not yet decided on its further programme. My right hon. Friend expects each meeting to provide some useful exchange of views, but it will be for the Council to decide when it is ready to proffer formal advice to Her Majesty's Government.
