§ Mr. MaclayNo such request has been received by me, but my right hon. Friend the Home Secretary has received a letter from the National Association of Fire Officers and the Fire Brigades Union asking him to receive a deputation at which representatives of these two bodies could put the arguments for setting up an independent committee to inquire into the manpower position and remuneration of the Fire Service. He is considering this request.
