HC Deb 20 March 1961 vol 637 c4W
Mr. K. Robinson

asked the Minister of Health by what authority he requires pharmacists to collect prescription charges on his behalf; and what changes in the form of contract signed by the pharmacist and by him have been made for this purpose since the inception of the National Health Service.

Mr. Powell

Regulations made under Section 38 of the National Health Service Act, 1946, as amended by Section 16 of the National Health Service (Amendment) Act, 1949, entitle a chemist to recover prescription charges, and his terms of service, as amended in 1952 and 1956, empower the Executive Council to reduce the payments it makes to him by the amount of the charges.
