Mr. de Frietasasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether he will make a statement on the recent escapes from Lincoln prison.
§ Mr. R. A. ButlerOn 13th June two prisoners escaped from a workshop, which is outside the main security wall, by taking advantage of a structural weakness and inattention on the part of the supervising staff. Disciplinary action has been taken against the officers concerned. The prisoners, who were recaptured the day after their escape, have been punished.
