Mr. Awberyasked the Lord Privy Seal what information he has received about the progress made by the United Nations Sub-committee of Inquiry into events in Angola; and whether, in view of the continuation of violence in that territory, involving several thousand deaths and the proposal to burn numerous villages, he will urge that the report of the sub-committee be expedited.
§ Mr. HeathI understand that the subcommittee referred to by the hon. Gentleman is meeting at present in New York. As I said yesterday in the House, we hope the committee will report as soon as possible.
§ Mr. G. Thomasasked the Lord Privy Seal why Her Majesty's Government abstained from voting on the latest Security Council resolution concerning Angola; and whether he will make a statement.
