HC Deb 21 December 1961 vol 651 cc188-9W
Dr, D. Johnson

asked the Postmaster-General whether he is aware that a small packet posted in Dublin by express post on 14th December was only delivered in the Kensington area of London at 11.45 a.m. on 20th December; and what steps he is taking to ensure that the natural delays in the Christmas post do not affect letters and packets sent by express post.

Miss Pike

Every effort is made to maintain a speedy service at Christmas, but, as my hon. Friend recognises, some delay is unavoidable. However, the packet to which my hon. Friend refers should not have taken so long to get from Dublin to Kensington even if it had been sent by ordinary post. If he will let me have the cover my right hon. Friend will gladly make further inquiries.
