HC Deb 12 December 1961 vol 651 cc37-8W
Mr. Mapp

asked the Minister of Health if he will indicate the demand for and supply of transistor hearing aids, over a recent period, at the Manchester Hearing Aid Clinic, and for a similar period for the rest of the country; and what plans he has to overcome the backlog of priority cases and to step up the supply for new cases.

9,600 boarding places in State secondary schools; and what is the average charge to parents per place.

Sir D. Eccles

Sample figures show that the average fee to parents to cover the cost of board and lodging ranges from £170 to £180 a year. This fee is reduced or remitted in cases of hardship and no fee is charged if the pupil cannot otherwise be suitably educated.
