HC Deb 17 November 1960 vol 630 c65W
82. Mr. H. Wilson

asked the President of the Board of Trade if he will make a statement on the provisional October trade return figures released by his Department on 14th November.

Mr. Maudling

The October trade figures were affected by the strike of tally clerks at the London Docks. It is not known how big the effect was, but it is thought that it was larger on exports than on imports. The distortion of the figures will probably continue, and this will make interpretation difficult for the next month or two.
