HC Deb 21 March 1960 vol 620 cc1-2W
10. Sir A. Hurd

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food the amounts paid in subsidy on milk sales, apart from welfare milk, to each of the milk marketing boards in the United Kingdom last year.

Mr. Godber

The guarantee on milk is a United Kingdom guarantee, and it would be misleading to regard the milk marketing boards as separate units in this context. With that proviso, the amounts paid in respect of the general milk subsidy to the boards in 1959 were:

£
Milk Marketing Board (England and Wales) 3,115,215
Scottish Milk Marketing Board 2,377,394
Aberdeen and District Milk Marketing Board 553,727
North of Scotland Milk Marketing Board 232,515
Milk Marketing Board for Northern Ireland 3,665,599
United Kingdom £9,944,450
