§ Mr. R. A. ButlerThe latest available figures, which are for the financial year 1958–59, show an average weekly maintenance cost of £7 1s. 2d. for a prisoner and £11 0s. 4d. for a borstal inmate. I regret that it is not possible to give separate figures for the cost of men and women.
