HC Deb 29 June 1960 vol 625 c129W
Mr. E. Johnson

asked the Minister of Transport why the new Lichfield by-pass was constructed to provide for three lines of traffic and wide grass verges instead of for four lines of traffic.

Mr. Marples

The three-lane width was determined by the volume of traffic which was expected to use the road. The verges are of a normal width except at junctions, where they have been increased to secure good visibility.
