84. Mrs. Butlerasked the Minister of Housing and Local Government and Minister for Welsh Affairs how many local authorities have deferred or abandoned schemes of re-development of worn-out central areas due to the high cost of urban land; and whether he will make a statement.
§ Mr. H. BrookeI am not aware that local authorities have deferred or abandoned schemes for re-development of central areas for this reason. Of course the cost of land must be a factor in their consideration, but at the same time rising values are a better augury for re-development than falling values.
