HC Deb 15 February 1960 vol 617 c78W
52. Commander Pursey

asked the Minister of Health to what extent he requires opticians under contract with the National Health Scheme to show the wide range of frames for National Health Service dispensing; and what action he will take, by circular or otherwise, to ensure that opticians who have failed to do so will show the range to their patients.

Miss Pitt

Opticians are not specifically required by their terms of service to show the range of National Health Service frames. My right hon. and learned Friend has, however, given guidance through the handbook issued to all opticians on their responsibilities for informing applicants of the availability of a full range of National Health Service frames.

53. Commander Pursey

asked the Minister of Health whether he will arrange for copies of the latest issue of the Scales of Fees and Charges for opticians to be placed in the Vote Office, to enable hon. Members to see the list of the wide range of frames for National Health Service dispensing, and the charges.

Miss Pitt

I am arranging for copies of this Statement to be placed in the Vote Office.
