asked the Minister of Education what progress has been made by his Department in carrying out the recommendations of the Albemarle Report on Youth Clubs, and whether he will make a statement.

Considerable progress has been made in carrying out the recommendations which the Government accepted on the day the Report was published. In particular, I have announced youth service building programmes to the value of £3 million for starts in 1960–62 and £4 million in 196263, and have substantially increased the amount of grant to the national voluntary youth organisations. Grants for capital projects of local voluntary bodies have also been increased. Progress has been made in securing greater co-operation between local authorities and voluntary bodies. A national college for the training of youth leaders has been established at Leicester and will open in January. The Youth Service Development Council, set up last March, has met regularly.82W
