§ Sir D. EcclesAbout 8,200 men and 15,000 women applied for admission in 1960–61 to general and specialist house-craft and physical education colleges. Colleges will not begin to offer places for 1961–62 until the end of January next. The number of places offered to applicants who had previously been unsuccessful cannot be ascertained without a great deal of work.
