§ Commander Purseyasked the Minister of Transport whether the excessive rust on the underpart of Fullbridge, Maldon, Essex, was caused by salt or fresh water; and when the underpart was last scraped and painted.
§ Mr. MarplesThe Essex County Council tells me that the rust has been caused by atmospheric conditions and not by the river water.
I am also told that the old bridge, which was closed to vehicular traffic during the war and replaced by a temporary bridge, has not been scraped and painted since 1937.
