HC Deb 14 April 1960 vol 621 cc175-6W
Sir E. Errington

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs what stage the communications with the United Arab Republic, in connection with the payment of compensation to ex-British officials of the Egyptian Government, have reached; and when this matter is likely to be finalised.

Mr. R. Allan

The Commission referred to in the reply given to my hon. Friend on 26th January has now been revived by the United Arab Republic Government. The latest report received from Her Majesty's Chargé d'Affaires in Cairo is that the Commission is now in operation. I cannot say when the matter is likely to be settled but Her Majesty's Charge d'Affaires will do everything possible to expedite a settlement.
