§ 56. Mr. Woodburnasked the Secretary of State for Scotland to what extent before deciding on specifications for approach roads to the Forth Road Bridge he had tests made of possible improvements in visibility of kerbs in order to ensure the maximum safety for drivers.
Mr. MacphersonNo special tests have been made for this purpose. The consulting engineers for the Forth Road Bridge are calling for kerbs according to British Standard No. 340 which forms part of the normal specification for roads. They are also engaged in research into local sources of supply for kerb and kerbing materials with the object of ensuring that within the specification the most durable and visible kerb is used.
