HC Deb 30 November 1959 vol 614 c106W
Mr. Speir

asked the Minister of Transport whether his attention has been drawn to the fact that Professor D. T. Jack, who is chairman of the committee he set up to report on the problem of rural transport, has now been appointed a member of the Advisory Commission on Central Africa and what action he proposes to take to ensure that the work of the Rural Transport Committee is not adversely affected thereby.

Mr. Marples

Professor Jack was appointed to the Advisory Commission on Central Africa with my agreement. I propose to appoint a Vice-Chairman of the Committee on Rural Bus Services to steer its work while Professor Jack is occupied with the work of the Commission.
