Forty-four formal applications have been received for anti-dumping or countervailing duties under the Customs Duties (Dumping and Subsidies) Act, 1957.

Anti-dumping duties have been imposed in two cases. A duty of 4s. per 1b. was imposed on polymethylsiloxane fluids imported from a particular firm in France on 7th January, 1958, and revoked on 2nd June, 1959, after the dumping had ceased. A duty of 12s. per cwt. was imposed on pearled barley imported from Western Germany on 28th May, 1959, and is still operative.
