HC Deb 17 November 1959 vol 613 c116W
112. Mr. Dempsey

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he is aware that in the near future there will be approximately 270 Protestant primary pupils resident in the Shawhead area of Coat bridge without a school; and if he will provide assistance for the building of a new school with a view to meeting this need.

Mr. Maclay

I understand that this number of children can be accommodated at Whifflet Primary School, about half a mile away. The education authority is, however, considering whether a Protestant primary school should be built at Shawhead.
