§ 93. Mr. John MacLeodasked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will make a statement regarding the opening up of the road system in Wester Ross, and particularly when he expects to close the Balgy Gap.
§ Mr. MaclayWork is in progress on one scheme of reconstruction in Wester Ross under the Crofter Counties Programme, and others are being prepared. I am considering, in consultation with the Highland county councils, a programme for the construction of new roads as announced in the Review of Highland Policy, and I have authorised32W Ross and Cromarty County Council to appoint consulting engineers to report on the proposal for a road to close the Balgy Gap.
