HC Deb 10 November 1959 vol 613 c32W
94. Mr. Dempsey

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland if, in view of the nature of the structure of Cairnhill House, Airdrie, which provides residential accommodation for blind persons, he is satisfied with the conditions under which these handicapped persons live; and whether he will make a statement.

Mr. Maclay

The hon. Member no doubt has in mind that the accommodation in this home is provided on more than one floor. I am assured, however, that admission to the home is restricted to persons who can safely negotiate stairs and there seems no reason, therefore, to regard the home as unsuitable on that account.
