§ 56. Mr. Brockwayasked the Secretary of State for the Colonies what action was taken by the Governor of Northern Rhodesia on receiving a protest from the delegation representing the International Confederation of Free Trades Unions that they had been refused accommodation at a hotel in Lusaka on 6th May, 1959, because their party included a coloured person.
§ Mr. J. AmeryI know of no such incident in Lusaka. There was a somewhat similar incident at Kitwe on the relevant date. I do not know if this is what the hon. Member is referring to. But, if it is, the Governor has informed me that neither he nor the Provincial Commissioner, nor the District Commissioner, has received any official protest from the delegation.
