70. Mr. Oliver

asked the Minister of Pensions and National Insurance whether he will arrange for information to be given to a workman having met with an accident and claiming benefit under the National Insurance (Industrial Injuries)

The following table shows, for the period since the introduction of the National Insurance scheme in July 1948, the ordinary rates of weekly contributions:

Act in cases where idiopathic defect, such as arthritis, is subsequently alleged, of the probable time such a defect might have remained dormant and the accident not happened or, alternatively, that the defect would have incapacitated him about the time of the accident had the latter not occurred.

Miss Pitt

The decision and findings of the medical board or medical appeal tribunal assessing disablement resulting from an industrial accident should record any disablement due to idiopathic or other conditions obtaining before the accident. The decision and a summary of the findings is sent to the claimant. If the hon. and learned member has any particular difficulty in mind I should be glad to look into it.
