HC Deb 05 May 1959 vol 605 cc21-2W
65. Mr. Grimond

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what is the present position, under the Town and Country Planning Acts, of the proposals by Edinburgh University for expansion in George Square, Edinburgh, in a manner that involves pulling down existing buildings.

Mr. Maclay

Planning permission in principle has been given by Edinburgh Corporation as local planning authority, subject to submission in due course of more detailed plans for the new buildings not yet begun. Extension of the medical school on the north side of the Square has begun, and I understand that further redevelopment is expected to start next spring.
