HC Deb 26 March 1959 vol 602 c167W
Sir A. Bossom

asked the President of the Board of Trade, in view of renewed hardship suffered by British growers, if he will now give further consideration to a revision of tariffs in connection with new potatoes, tomatoes, cauliflower, broccoli, lettuce and endive during certain periods of the year, to enable British farmers to meet the competition of these imported vegetables.

Mr. Vaughan-Morgan

No, since my right hon. Friend has already given the Government's decision on the applications for increases in these tariffs. It will be for the horticultural interests concerned to judge when they have sufficient evidence to justify the submission of fresh applications.
