Mr. du Cannasked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs what progress has been made in the negotiations for a general settlement of outstanding financial questions with the Soviet Government, with particular reference to United Kingdom claims amounting to £8,000,000 arising from the Soviet annexation of the Baltic States in 1940.
§ Mr. R. AllanMy right hon. and learned Friend raised the question of our68W claims against the Soviet Union with Mr. Khrushchev during his recent visit to Moscow. Mr. Khrushchev undertook to look into the matter, and we subsequently received a Soviet communication which is now being studied.
We shall continue our efforts to reach agreement through the diplomatic channel.
